Grand opening of the mini Monkeyglasses store
This summer Monkeyglasses opened the first eyewear store with sustainable glasses for children in Copenhagen, Denmark. The shop is in playful bright yellow and blue colors, where the eyewear is neatly lined up on shelves hanging lower than in the usual store. It is obvious that this is a place for kids only, where you can find toy monkeys in every corner as a symbol for both the silly, child friendly version of Monkeyglasses and their focus on doing better for the planet and being sustainable – a cause Monkeyglasses is always working on improving.
Producing eyewear in sustainable materials since 2009
In 2019 Monkeyglasses celebrated their 10th year anniversary with a Flagship store opening in Copenhagen. This is where Mai-britt designs sustainable frames:
” From the very beginning we have insisted on raising the standards on both quality and ethics in the industry, which was desperately needed. That is why Monkeyglasses is founded on a politic for fair conditions and zero waste. Besides that, we support ‘Safe the Orangutan’ an organization who rescue displaced and orphaned orangutans on Borneo. It is my passion to produce a beautiful design with respect for people and the environment” – Designer and CEO, Mai-britt Seaton.
With the design philosophy “look good while doing good”, we believe in making sustainable eyewear for our customers to wear without a compromise. All our materials are natural, renewable, and reusable. Our suppliers and manufactures must comply with the UN global compact guidelines on Corporate Social Responsibility. These guidelines ensure you that working conditions and salary are good and fair. Monkeyglasses stands for care and consideration – for each other and the world we are a part of.
